What to pack for Italy: the season-by-season guide

Spring — 12–22°C: Perfect; the whole country comes alive.

Summer — 24–35°C: Rome sizzles — light linen and shade.

Winter — 4–13°C: Mild but damp; a leather jacket carries.

Life happens outdoors and after dinner. Evenings cool down fast, tables spill onto stone streets, and the walk home is part of the meal. A good jacket and comfortable-but-beautiful shoes are the two non-negotiables.

Best time to arrive: Apr–Jun & Sept–Oct for golden light.. Whatever season you land in, the kit logic stays the same: a strong outer layer for the weather, a mid-layer you can shed indoors, and footwear built for the streets you will actually walk.
